First Transit is looking for Schedulers/ Dispatchers to review, revise, and produce final driver manifests for next day door-to-door ADA transportation service. Job Purpose 

Creates productive and practical driver manifests for next day Para-transit service

Our Schedulers/ Dispatchers are responsible for:

  • Manually edits daily schedules, focusing on productivity, efficiency, and practicality. 
  • Effectively communicates and contributes within the scheduling department, focusing on 
    geographic knowledge and overall scheduling strategy. 
  • Effectively communicates with Command Center management and transit providers regarding 
    daily scheduling issues. 
  • Effectively communicates with the GIS Specialist regarding geo-coding issues. 
  • Successfully completes daily procedures with respect to nightly manifest production and 
    report generation. 
  • Reviews and reassigns subscription trips based on route productivity and efficiency. 
  • Updates schedules based on anticipated events (i.e., holidays, parades, demonstrations, and 
    marathons). 
  • Reviews and recommends route changes based on trip demand and route productivity (i.e., 
    route elimination, area reassignment, and service time adjustments). 
  • Develops a working knowledge of ADEPT and its scheduling functions 
  • Effectively communicates with the Scheduling Supervisor and the entire scheduling staff 
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisors in the Scheduling/ Subscription/ Outreach units. 
  • Cross training in all department functions within the Scheduling unit.

To qualify as a Scheduler/ Dispatcher, you'll need:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical degree preferred. 
  • Must have proven mapping skills. 
  • Extensive hands-on experience in vehicle scheduling for at least 2 years; Para-transit 
    experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of the geography of the five boroughs, including major landmarks and 
    facilities. 
  • Must exhibit sensitivity to people with disabilities; knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities 
    Act a plus.
