About the Position

Join the First Transit team in our Region Finance department. The Region Finance Manager provides financial support to a number of transportation operational contracts. Protects and monitors company assets and analyzes operating results. Supports the VP of Finance and regional management in contract analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.

• Assists with the preparation of the month-end close and financial reporting and prepares monthly variance analysis reports. 
• Assists with location-level reviews of accounting transactions and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Makes recommendations and ensures that corrective actions are taken.
• Trains and assists location personnel with month-end close, Ad-Hoc analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and administrative functions. Conducts training sessions to raise the financial competency of location and other management as needed.
• Reviews and monitors assets, including cascading, right-sizing, and lost business transitions for the region. Prepares capital asset requests, including financial analysis and business justifications. 
• Assists with developing contract bids and rate calculations and ensures the reasonableness of financial assumptions. Prepares financial models for contract analysis.
• Manages the month-end close process, which includes preparation and review of journal entries as well as, analysis of multiple location-level income statements.
• Manages and prepares the quarterly forecast and yearly operating plan for the region.  
• Performs special projects and analysis and prepares various reports for operations and other management as necessary.
• This person doesn't have direct reports but is expected to help lead team projects, and help in mentoring the finance team. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. CPA, CMA, or MBA is desirable
• 5+ years experience in accounting/finance
• Experience in financial modeling and accounting theory
• Experience in building detailed budgets and forecasts for one or more business units
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of personnel
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office and Excel. Must be able to write complex formulas. Ability to write and debug Excel macros preferred
• Accounting and Finance experience in a multi-site environment preferred
• This position does require roughly 25% of travel to various sites 
• This position is also a Hybrid-type work schedule, on non-travel weeks
