Job Scope

Manages the FGA Environmental KPI program. Ensures environmental compliance audits are
performed in line with all FGA initiatives. Acts as day-to-day point of contact with regulatory
agencies, environmental consultants and FGA field teams. Manages daily environmental issues
and consultant activities. Assists in the management of environmental projects.

Environmental Manager responsibilities include:

  • Tracks compliance dates, registrations, permits and fee payments and informs FGA locations
    as needed.
  • Conducts and oversees routine environmental compliance audits including storm water
    permitting, spill prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan development.
  • Maintains MSDS for approved maintenance chemicals and communicates to FGA facilities.
  • Initiates Environmental Projects through the Capex program and tracks ongoing expenditures.
  • Manages the Underground/Above Storage Tank registration and compliance program.
  • Prepares Petroleum Bulk Storage (PBS) registration updates and processes fee payments for
    existing and new underground/above ground storage tank systems.
  • Oversees “on call” spill response coordination and assesses reporting requirements for each
    release.
  • Provides the necessary technical support to all FGA operating companies to communicate the
    company’s environmental program and standards and to ensure each location understands
    the risks and liabilities. Coordinates the open, ongoing management and closure of each
    property effectively.
  • Manages the FGA external environmental database to ensure current and site-specific
    information is published and readily available to field operations.
  • Manages the operating and capital expenses associated with each site and / or each project
    and coordinates with Finance. Manages the updating and forecasting of project budgets to
    ensure project delivery is within established budget
  • Manages the “environmental reserve” to reflect current and accurate information on a per site
    basis.
  • Assists in internal and external audit reviews. Reviews for accuracy and codes consultants
    invoices for submission and approval.
  • Stays current on environmental regulations and applicable issues by attending seminars and
    training courses. Prepares and reports monthly environmental issues and environmental
    training. 
  • Assists and coordinates efforts in obtaining and compiling the necessary data and information
    for the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) corporate initiative.
  • Manages the development of scopes of work, bid packages, and contract issuance for all
    major projects. Prepares, adjusts, and distributes project schedules.
  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with internal/external clients, support
    departments, vendors, consultants and contractors

Minimum Environmental Manager requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering  preferred or equivalent experience and education.
  • Requires industry recognized certifications, including OSHA and Hazwoper certification.

Minimum Experience & Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years environmental/construction management experience preferred
  • Contractional compliance  
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Able to effectively manage projects, direct reports, and consultants
  • Understands and is knowledgeable regarding environmental compliance and due diligence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Visio, MapPoint, Publisher, and
    PowerPoint
  • Self motivated and excellent organizational skills
  • Competent working knowledge in JD Edwards, Docusphere, and general Environmental Mgt
    software.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires ability to multi-task and stay focused
  • Excellent time management capabilities

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office
    equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in
    person or by telephone.
