About the Position

Join the First Transit team as Fleet Maintenance Manager in Arlington, VA. The Maintenance Manager will supervise the maintenance and repair of buses and support vehicles to contract requirements. Schedule and administer fleet maintenance and assist troubleshooting vehicle and equipment problems.
Make employment decisions, supervise maintenance staff, delegate the work, and handle employee relations.
Work closely with the location and region management teams providing maintenance status, vehicle availability, and budget updates. Review financial and budget variances and accounts payable documents.
Ensure a safe environment exists and all maintenance activities comply with State, Federal, and Company requirements.
Initiate and implement projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy-duty diesel engines.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions with moderate noise.
Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent; Technical training preferred
Valid VA CDL with Passenger and Airbrakes
Must be able to pass and maintain DOT physical examination requirements
7+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
Industry experience repairing and maintaining automotive and diesel vehicles
Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office
ASE Master certification is strongly preferred; it must be able to obtain while employed
Ability to work with a diverse workforce and Union environment.
