Salary range: $100,000 - $110,000

About the Position

As an integral member of the Claims team, the Insurance Specialist will perform activities related to insurance program renewal and coverage placements for the company and external clients for various lines of coverage including but not limited to general liability, auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability, pollution, cyber, crime, fiduciary and Director & Officers liability insurance.

Insurance Specialist Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Perform activities related to annual renewal activities with brokers for insurance programs including, but not limited to, general liability, professional liability, pollution and workers’ compensation.

    • Compile insurance program renewal submission content and organize key communications with understanding of client and insurance partner goals and needs.
    • Gather and analyze financial, and insurance data for annual insurance program renewals; develop coverage needs, present recommendations, and prepare renewal applications
    • Conduct review and analysis of initial quotes and broker/carrier responses; follow up with broker for missing items as needed.
    • Participate in renewal meetings, review broker and insurance carrier quotes, and assist in negotiations.
    • Review and analyze all binding documents from brokers and ensure accuracy and compliance with program requirements.
    • Assist with managing captive program
    • Escalate any change requests such as program requirements, changes in coverage, and changes in financial structure to the appropriate contact.
    • Initiate insurance program renewal activities and processes according to established schedule.
    • Participate and support negotiations for insurance program renewals.
    • Issue Certificates of Insurance
    • Review contracts and provide necessary changes and/or feedback.
    • Maintain policy documentation at each renewal and ensure accuracy to negotiated terms within the risk management database and order corrections from brokers and insurance carriers as required.
    • Foster relationships and build partnerships with insurance brokers and carriers.
    • Collaborate with Project Risk team and contribute technical content for insurance programs training materials.
    • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Insurance Specialist Education and Experience Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or similar program, with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in insurance or risk management or claims with an emphasis on transportation; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
    • Risk management CPCU, ARM, or similar insurance designation
    • Understanding of contracts and insurance documents
    • Critical organizational analysis skills
    • Analytical and adept at processing and breaking down data into actionable information
    • Self-starter with strong project management skills and capable of managing concurrent complex projects and tasks successfully to completion
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels
    • Professional written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft suite of applications, MS Outlook, and insurance-based risk management information systems
    • Limited travel
