About the Position

Join the First family as a Dispatcher. The Dispatcher supports field service to provide quality customer transportation services. If you have great customer service skills and a desire to help this position may be for you.

  • Monitors and directs on-street service operations to ensure compliance with CitiBus, federal, state, and local goals, policies, procedures and responsiveness to customer needs. 
  • Monitors bus service performance to identify and coordinate the resolution of problems related to schedule adherence, service disruptions, reschedule of service/transfer of passengers, equipment failures, detours, emergency, incidents and customer concerns.
  • Ensures that all driver assignments are filled and service is operated as scheduled.  Ensures that driver rotation on the extra board and courtesy board is accurate
  • Ensures that operators reporting for duty are in uniform (with safety gear) and are physically and mentally capable of completing assignment.
  • Operates the two-way radio system with drivers and mechanics, communicating all required service information in a timely and professional manner; being both clear and accurate with information.  Responds to problems and service disruptions providing direction and instruction.  Coordinates with other City departments regarding accidents, incidents, emergencies, service disruptions and customer situations. 
  • Coordinates and communicates with CitiBus management, maintenance, and operations personnel to ensure a high quality of service delivery.
  • Completes the operation log and absenteeism reports, along with other required reports, accurately and on-time.  Ensures that all incidents are included on the daily operations log.
  • Ensures timely and accurate information exchange with other dispatchers and CitiBus staff and support personnel, as required.
  • Ensures accurate and timely entry of customer information (TransLoc & MetroLINK).
  • Maintains coverage of the dispatcher position in the event of an absence. 
  • Has thorough working knowledge of City of Davenport/CitiBus and Union policies and procedures.
  • Road Supervisor duties to include time point checks, detours, pulling of video and duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the training of new employees.
  • Be available to work 2 Saturdays per month.


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic and multi-task computer operation in a Windows environment
  • Ability to proficiently operate a computer
  • Ability to communicate clearly in the English language
  • Ability to utilize a standard business telephone system for communication
  • Must satisfactorily complete two-week training program.
  • Ability to accept job responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize and to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent phone demeanor and customer service skills; positive attitude and sensitivity in dealing with customers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to interact with interdepartmental personnel
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, judgment and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to perceive, react and communicate positively to needs of colleagues and customers.
  • Meets all Qualifications and understands and agrees with all Responsibilities
  • The candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in the full-time workforce
  • Valid Driver License
